Jaime Chester

Licensed Professional Counselor

Jaime Chester is a licensed professional counselor who received her MA in Counseling Psychology from Prescott College and her Bachelors In Human Development from SUNY Old Westbury. She believes that success in life is not just about luck or privilege. It is more about managed thoughts, focused attention, and deliberate action… skills that many people are never taught. Jaime believes that it’s never too early or too late to learn skills to manage emotions and increase effectiveness in every area of one’s life.  Her goal is to help others learn skills that will lead to greater success and happiness – however the individual defines it.

Over the past decade, Jaime has worked with individuals from ages 3-90 in variety of settings and seen transformational results. She has extensive experience with crisis intervention in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Having worked as a first responder, Jaime has a special heart, understanding, and respect for this population who give so much to the community.

Jaime has worked extensively with survivors of trauma on an individual and group basis.  She especially enjoys working with the older adult population who face the unique challenges of aging and adjusting to a rapidly changing world. She is also enthusiastic about working with young people to help them learn skills to navigate through the many challenges head.  Jaime has experience with a wide variety of populations to include the neurodiverse population,  substance abuse population,  survivors of physical/sexual trauma (both children and adults), and the homeless population.

As a former project manager, Jaime takes an action-based approach to therapy which includes treatment planning, identifying and managing root cause and managing risk, and utilization of behavioral strategies (in addition to traditional talk therapy). She employs a combination of therapeutic interventions with a strong focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).

Jaime works from the principle that as you grow to know yourself better and identify strategies and coping skills to help you manage your emotions, you become more capable of achieving your goals and of becoming a happier, more effective individual.  Life is hard, and you can learn to succeed anyway.
